The Table Was Full: Inside Build the Table Exclusively Hosted by Fitler Club!

A sold-out evening of film, entrepreneurship, creativity, ownership, and community in Philadelphia.

On August 31, Build the Table: Converting Vision to Value brought Philadelphia’s creative and entrepreneurial community together at Fitler Club for an intimate evening celebrating Black Business Month through film, conversation, connection, and commerce.

And Philly showed up!

The event was officially SOLD OUT. 🎬✨

What began as a vision to create space for meaningful stories became a room filled with filmmakers, artists, entrepreneurs, civic leaders, creatives, changemakers, and community members ready to watch, listen, connect and, most importantly, BUILD.

Three Films. Three Stories. One Table.

The evening featured a curated collection of three independent films exploring entrepreneurship, creativity, ownership, purpose, and legacy.

Dom & Tom’s Unique Treasures, by filmmaker Derrick Hogue, Founder of Visual Truth Productions, introduced guests to Dominic Capers and Thomas Davis and their journey of transforming a passion for vintage and sustainability into a purpose-driven West Philadelphia business.

The Time Thief, directed by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Kyra Knox, brought audiences into the creative world of photographer Steven CW Taylor, Founder of Ubuntu Fine Art Gallery, exploring the power of art, ownership, and cultural storytelling.

The evening’s feature presentation, Build the Table: The Daily Dressings™ Brand Story, directed by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker and NOT|JAX Productions Founder Jaxon, documented the evolution of Daily Dressings™ and Founder Tiara B, from building a jewelry brand to using creativity, collaboration, and storytelling to create something much larger.

For Daily Dressings™, seeing our story return to the big screen was especially meaningful.

What started with jewelry has continued to evolve into opportunities to tell stories, create experiences, build relationships, and make room for other creatives and entrepreneurs at the table.

Converting Vision Into Value

Following the screenings, multidisciplinary artist and creative director Dazey Feathers moderated a conversation with Steven CW Taylor, Derrick Hogue, and Tiara B centered around one question:

How do we convert vision into value?

The conversation explored Black entrepreneurship and ownership, storytelling as an economic tool, collaboration within Philadelphia’s creative ecosystem, and what the next generation of Black entrepreneurs and creatives needs to build sustainable futures.

It was more than a traditional panel. It was a conversation about what happens after you have the idea. Essentially when vision requires action, community, resources, persistence, and ownership to become something tangible.

And just as importantly, the audience became part of the conversation through an intimate Q&A.

From the Screening to the Sip & Shop 🥂💎

The conversation didn’t end when the panel did.

Guests transitioned into the Sip, Shop & Networking Reception, where they could continue connecting with the filmmakers, artists, entrepreneurs, and fellow attendees they had just experienced on screen and on stage.

Cyrenity Sips Winery joined the evening as our featured beverage partner, bringing another Black-owned entrepreneurial story into the experience.

And, of course, Daily Dressings™ brought the jewels. 💎

Guests had the opportunity to experience the Daily Dressings™ Pop-Up Boutique, shop pieces from the brand, and connect the products they know with the story and journey they had just watched unfold on the big screen.

It Took a Community to Build This Table

An experience like this is never created by one person.

Our deepest gratitude goes to Fitler Club for partnering with Build the Table and creating space for this experience, and especially to Rashida Ricketts and Dr. Kimberly McGlonn for their support in helping bring the vision to life.

Thank you to Dazey Feathers for guiding the evening’s conversation with intention and authenticity; Derrick Hogue, Steven CW Taylor, Kyra Knox, and Jaxon for trusting us with your work, stories, and creative vision; and Cyrenity Sips Winery for partnering with us to extend the experience beyond the screen.

And to every person who purchased a ticket, filled a seat, asked a question, made a new connection, supported a filmmaker, shopped Daily Dressings™, or simply came ready to experience something new:

Thank you.

You made the table what it was.

The Table Is Still Being Built

A sold-out room was an incredible milestone, but Build the Table was never just about filling seats.

It is about what happens when we create our own spaces.

When filmmakers can tell our stories.

When entrepreneurs can own what they build.

When creatives can turn their ideas into sustainable opportunities.

And when community comes together not simply to celebrate what already exists, but to help imagine and build what comes next.

For Daily Dressings™, this evening represented another chapter in a journey that continues to grow beyond jewelry.

The vision is getting bigger.
The community is getting stronger.
And we are still building the table. 🤎
